Our Story
EthMirAIcle Lab was created with a parent’s heart and an educator’s vision. Inspired by my children, Ethan and Mila (meaning “miracle” in Spanish), our name reflects both the magic of childhood learning and the transformative power of AI.
We believe every child — no matter their background — deserves the opportunity to understand the technology that will shape their future.
Our Goal
At EthMirAIcle Lab, our goal is to inspire learners at every stage to understand, explore, and shape the future of AI. We collaborate with schools to bring engaging, hands-on AI learning into classrooms and enrichment programs—empowering students to see themselves not just as users of technology, but as creators and thinkers.
For parents, our goal is to offer reassurance and inspiration in a rapidly changing world. We aim to help families nurture curiosity, creativity, and responsible digital habits, so children can grow with confidence as AI becomes part of everyday life.
For college students and emerging professionals, our goal is to support bold beginnings. Through mentorship, practical training, and real-world insight, we help students find their direction, build meaningful skills, and step confidently into AI-driven careers.

Our Founder
Dr. Xi (Cathy) Kan
AI Scientist • Educator • Innovator • Mom
Professional Background
Dr. Xi (Cathy) Kan is an experienced AI and Machine Learning scientist with over a decade of hands-on work in advanced modeling, deep learning, and modern Large Language Models (LLMs). She earned her PhD in Decision Sciences & Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where she built a strong foundation in quantitative methods, algorithmic development, and data-driven decision-making.
Youth Education Experience
Alongside her technical career, Cathy has developed extensive experience in youth AI education. She has taught enrichment classes in AI and creative technology in the Eanes Independent School District, led hands-on AI workshops for Girlstart, and delivered online AI programs for high school students in the Bay Area. Her teaching approach blends real-world AI concepts with engaging, age-appropriate activities that spark curiosity and confidence in young learners.
Vision for EthMirAIcle Lab
Inspired by her work as an AI scientist and as a mother, Cathy founded EthMirAIcle Lab to close the growing gap in accessible, meaningful AI education. She believes every student—regardless of age or background—should have the opportunity to understand and create with AI. Her mission is to empower youth, support schools, and guide aspiring professionals through high-quality, human-centered AI learning experiences.
Beyond Work
Outside of her professional and educational roles, Cathy enjoys practicing Yin Yoga to maintain balance and well-being, and she loves exploring different cultures through international travel with her family—including her son Ethan and daughter Mila, whose names helped inspire EthMirAIcle.
